After a fighting an aggressive form of ovarian cancer, which left Shannon afraid she would be interfile, the Olympic gymnast and her husband welcomed a healthy baby girl in June. Congrats to the happy family!
Shannon Miller, 36, showed off her strength as a member of the 1996 champion Olympic gymnastics team, but she proved to be stronger than ever when she fought a severe form of ovarian cancer in 2011. Although she feared the disease and the aggressive treatment she endured would render her infertile,?Shannon and husband John Falconetti?welcomed a baby girl on June 25!

The couple, who have been married since 2008, welcomed their first daughter,?Sterling Diane Falconetti, on the morning of June 25. Weighing in at 6 lbs., 15 oz, the 19 1/2-inch-long newborn is reportedly doing just fine. Shannon?s rep told?People magazine at the time:
Shannon and John are thrilled to welcome Sterling into the world. Mom and baby are healthy and doing well.
Shannon told People in March that?she thought Sterling?s big brother, Rocco, 3 1/2, probably wanted a sister, as she will be the first girl grandchild on Shannon?s side of the family.
Shannon Miller Calls Newborn Daughter Her ?Miracle Baby?
The seven-time Olympic medalist announced in 2011 that she had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer, just 14 months after the birth of her son Rocco.
?Instead of calling my parents to tell them they had another grandchild on the way, I was calling to tell them I may have cancer . . . My world stopped,? she told?People magazine at the time.
She underwent surgery to remove her left ovary and a tumor, which was followed by nine weeks of chemotherapy.?Fortunately for Shannon, her battle was through in September of 2011, when her doctor gave her a clean bill of health.
An official announcement of her second pregnancy was released in January of 2013, which referred to Sterling as a ?miracle baby.? It is pretty amazing to be able to have a baby after defeating cancer!
The gymnast?acknowledged?all of her achievements in the announcement, citing motherhood as her biggest. She told the magazine:
I?ve been blessed to have the opportunity to do some amazing things in my life, but being a mom is second to none.
