Taste of Home Cooking School: Featuring culinary specialist Kristi Larson. Doors open at 4 p.m.; the show begins at 7 p.m. at Great Wolf Lodge, 20500 Old Highway 99 SW, Centralia. WSU Mason County Master Gardener plant sale: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at Kneeland Park, 100 Turner Ave., Shelton. The sale will feature vegetables, herbs, perennials, and annuals. Local vendors will offer food and crafts.

?La Dolce Vita?: Johnny Lewis presents ?The Sweet Life? music of Italy and the Mediterranean, with shows at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday at the Minnaert Center for the Arts at South Puget Sound Community College, 2011 Mottman Road SW, Olympia. Tickets are $23 and $25, and can be purchased at Music 6000, the Washington Center for the Performing Arts box office, or online at www.olytix.org.

?Cool Rides? Car Show: Sponsored by Audio Northwest and Integrated Claims Management, and benefitting high schools in the North Thurston School District, the free family event includes children?s activities, pinewood derby races, face painting, and more. The day kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday at Huntamer Park, 618 Woodland Square Loop SE, Lacey.

?Stamp Out Hunger?: The annual National Letter Carriers Food Drive is Saturday. Put a food bag on your porch or by your mail box by 9:30 a.m. Volunteers are needed to help pick up food bags and sort the food after collection. Children?s Miracle Network Fundraiser: A 6v6 dodgeball tournament is from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. at Komachin Middle School, 3650 College St. SE, Lacey. Registration fee is $200 for teams, $40 for single players. Call 360-515-6800 or email pnwdodgeball@gmail.com for details.

The Little Red Schoolhouse Barbecue: The Little Red Schoolhouse Project is hosting a barbecue from 4-7 p.m. May 16 at the Olympia Lacey Church of God, 5005 Lacey Blvd SE, Olympia. Proceeds buy students school supplies, backpacks, and clothing. Eat in or take out a Marv?s Marvlus Pit Bar-B-Q pulled pork sandwich, coleslaw, baked beans and a drink for $10. There will be live music, desserts for sale, and raffle items. Get tickets at www.redschool.org, the church, or at the door.

May 18

?Old Soldiers Ride?: The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association is hosting a poker run, raffle and social to benefit Washington State Soldiers? Homes. Registration at 9 a.m. May 18 at Northwest Harley Davidson, 8000 Freedom Lane NE, Lacey. The ride wraps up with music and a barbecue at 2 Mile House Pub & Eatery, 4221 Harrison Ave. NW, Olympia. May 18-19

Lacey Spring Fun Fair: The annual fair runs 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday at Saint Martin?s University. Family parade at noon Saturday; grand parade at 6 p.m., and a car show from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. both days.
