There are times when we say something about a phrase that comes out to be a different meaning. Just about everyone heard of the concept of self talk?you simply have a conversation to yourself, as funny as that sounds. But behind this self talk among us lies a very powerful tool. Ever notice yourself getting hungry when you look at McDonald?s? The reason behind this is because the color red and yellow is known to inflict your hunger instinct. As genius as McDonald?s is for taking advantage of this color psychology, it all goes back to our subconscious mind determining our actions.
If you want to take advantage of your own self-talk, it does exactly what McDonald?s can do to your mind, and that?s making you hungry for its burgers.
There are only three requirements that you must follow in order to take advantage of self-talk. But before these requirements are given, remember what I told you about this concept.
It is a powerful tool that lies among us.
For this reason alone, the purpose of self-talk is to keep you on track, make you become a better person and anything that will go towards being an overall better self. It will get you on track with your goals and turn your life around, only if you are serious enough with it. With this in mind, here are the three basic yet powerful tactics of self-talk: Positive, Present Tense, and Being Specific.
Not many realize this but when you place positivity in your mind, it spreads throughout your mood, energy, and action. This is one reason to make positive talk very important. But, it alone will not be enough to have any effect on the mind and spirit of your body. You need to incorporate the present tense and specificity of it.

Have you ever done something and afterwards, you ask yourself why you did it? Not only is that an example of self-talk, the process of you doing it without you consciously knowing states the fact that your mind is constantly receiving messages. By enforcing your mind to make present tense (and making sure that it is positive and specific) of an action, you force your subconscious mind to find a way to it.
Instead of saying you ?should be?, tell yourself you ?are?. Don?t tell yourself you ?will? either. Be specific about it. If you are eating a donut when you are not supposed to, say to yourself that you have stopped, not you are going to stop or that you will stop. Doing so otherwise, you acknowledge your subconscious mind that you ?are? still eating that donut.
By sending a message that states the present tense that you have stopped, your subconscious mind will go out of its way to make you stop eating the donut. The way how you say this specifically is very important, keep that in mind.
Become aware of what you tell your mind and state that it needs to be done now. There are always those messengers that do not make it through to deliver the word. To ensure that no words get lost, you need to direct the messages repeatedly. Be that proverbial broken record that can?t be paused. ?Say it enough to where your subconscious mind gets tired of hearing it because this is the key to manipulating your subconscious thoughts indirectly. Do it enough time with positivity, present tense, and specificity and you hold a powerful tool that lies among yourself.
Any thought that is passed on to the subconscious often enough and convincingly enough is finally accepted.
